From the 8th to the 14th of September 2011, the Spanish partner of the DigEm project (Digital Empowerment), DOCUMENTA, implemented the second workshop of storytelling in the municipal training center of Barrio Pesquero in Santander.
The main aim of DigEm is spreading the alternative training methodologies to acquire skills through new technologies. The target group is people that are disengaged with the learning process. In this case, the participants were disabled people, groups with learning difficulties, associations and social entities.
They created digital stories on their personal experiences. The trainees developed their communication skills through story-telling, photography, music, videos and audio recordings. The videos they created can be visited on the official website of the project (www.digem.eu).
This workshop was attended by eight trainees. They came from Down Syndrome Foundation, the Association for Persons with Aphasia, and professionals of social services. The working atmosphere was excellent and all participants created their own videos. The trainees showed great satisfaction and enthusiasm for DigEm method (which strengthened their social and digital skills). They declared that they would like to continue to use creative DigEm methods and techniques for digital stories in their daily live.
Gema Díaz Dominguez, Councilor of Employment and Business Development, Roberto del Pozo, Councilor of Personal Autonomy, and Javier Farto, president of DOCUMENTA attended to the closing activity. They gave the certificates of attendance and they watched some of the videos made by the participants during the workshop.
